Defining Core Business Competencies

DynaVenture's senior management team recognized that rapid innovation and expansion at the operational level necessitated a deeper understanding of core business competencies, in order to direct capital expansions in appropriate directions for sustainable growth.
To initiate the process, DynaVenture hired a specialist consultant to design and deliver a series of intensive seminars to all managers and key employees. With such diverse businesses represented, it was decided that the ovarall focus would be on facilitating a common conceptual language and framework for managerial effectiveness, to think about the "how" of business expansion. Within this context, teams from each company further delved in to the specific core competencies of their operations while learning from the experience and approach of others.
The process enhanced understanding and effectiveness at all levels and has been effective in re-orienting managerial focus toward well- defined and successful growth strategies.
